On the 5 August 2019 we were informed by our MP, Penny Mordaunt, that Highways England have completed their survey of the work that is required, which will also involve changing the lighting, restraint barriers and moving some telecommunications cables. Although the cost of the noise barrier has gone up by over £1M Highways England have advised that they have been able to bring together the finances to cover the additional costs. For environmental reasons, they have also advised that site work on the project has to be done during the winter because of the risks to certain species. This has to be done before any other works.
Therefore the current plan is as follows:
Winter 2019/2020 (likely after Christmas) Site clearance works/environmental work.
Spring 2020 (April/May) Main works start.
Summer 2020 Scheme completion.
